Midtown - New York
(*Even though some of our employees and contractors work from home, this position requires the new hire to work from our New York City office every day.)

ABOUT THE POSITION: Marketing Manager
This position has a dual focus: 1) leading the content maintenance and traffic growth of www.womenforhire.com, and 2) leading the event marketing and execution efforts.
Specific web development and web marketing responsibilities:

  • Updating the site for timely promotions and sponsorships
  • Working with external design and tech teams on the site’s functionality, aesthetic, and information architecture
  • Building content around career expos and other networking events
  • Managing ad server and available inventory; working with advertisers to ensure delivery of ads
  • Creating and formatting weekly e-newsletters through web-based email marketing solution
  • Overseeing viral marketing through social networking sites
  • Directing Search Engine Optimization efforts throughout site development: tagging, and the formation of both cross linking and content partnerships

Specific event marketing responsibilities:
Event Marketing:

  • Develop, negotiate, and execute partnerships with national and local women’s organizations, trade and professional organizations, online job boards and websites, newspapers and other print publications in order drive attendance of qualified professional women to expos
  • Arrange advertising buys in print and online
  • Work with design team to create print and online advertisements for expos
  • Support the sales team through the creation of sponsorships, customized programs, and marketing materials
  • Track and analyze success of event marketing initiatives and campaigns

Travel to Events and Onsite Execution:

  • Prepare event materials such as directories, signage, and registration for 20 events annually
  • Train and manage temporary event staff
  • Troubleshoot and assist participating clients and attendees
  • Ensure execution of onsite aspects of event sponsorships

ABOUT THE CANDIDATE
-The successful candidate will have a college degree and at least 4 years of combined experience SEO marketing and event marketing. (Event planning experience on its own is not sufficient; this is not an event planning position.)
-Solid communication skills, which can be verified through writing samples, references, and a track record of successes.
-A willingness to travel as needed to 10 events per season and a can-do attitude determined to make things happen.
-Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to seamlessly shift from one project to another while maintaining a clear sense of the big picture and critical small details.
-The right candidate is not easily flustered by the organized chaos that surrounds a small business, growing website, and marketing and event execution!

Technical skills require experience with the following:

  • Experience and comfort navigating and updating a content management system such as Drupal, Django, EZpublish
  • Knowledge of web analytics programs such as Goggle analytics; awareness of SEO best practices
  • Familiarity with banner advertising and knowledge of online media landscape
  • Web-based email solution and database management experience a plus
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Basic knowledge of HTML, Photoshop and Dream Weaver
  • Knowledge of blogging platforms such as Moveabletype and Wordpress
