In addition to writing a check, get busy working with us on behalf of the Women For Hire Foundation. This kind of work isn’t hard labor but a labor of love.

Step One: Come up with a clever theme for a few hours of fun and fundraising at home with your friends. Supporters nationwide have hosted everything from pizza and potlucks to cocktails and karaoke. One woman hosted an after-work Wii tournament. Another arranged for a night of burgers and bowling. We’ve received word about dozens of other fiestas in the works.

Step Two: Choose a date and location to host your event. Plan your guest list and save money by sending email invitations or evites. Be sure to convey your enthusiasm about this good-for-something get-together. Clearly state the purpose of the event, which is to support the Women For Hire Foundation. Ask each guest to bring a check made out to the Women For Hire Foundation ranging from $15 to $50—the amount is completely up to you, the host. It’s usually best to keep it in the range of what each attendee would typically spend for an average night on the town. But instead of an ordinary meal, everyone enjoys laughter and good times made even better knowing it’s for a worthy cause. Certainly your guests can contribute more as their discretion.

Step Three: Plan the party details and assign one person to be responsible for photographing the event. Not only do we want to receive your checks, but we’d also love to have a few photos and a description of the event.

Step Four: Celebrate! Execute your event and then contact us within 24 hours with the results. You can email us by clicking on any CONTACT US link on this site or you may call us at 212.290.2600 to share the details of your event. We’ll tell you where to mail the money you collected and we’ll ask you to include the mailing address of each supporter so we can send an acknowledgement.

Step Five: Benefit from the rewards available to hostesses, which are listed below. From each gathering, the total donation to the Foundation varies based on the number of attendees. And just as importantly as the money, we’re also building a grassroots army of well-wishers for the women we support.

Individuals

  • For every individual contribution of $75 or more, we’ll send the donor a small token of our appreciation.

Hostesses

  • Raise $250 or more and have your party featured on womenforhire.com.
  • Raise $1,000 or more and have your party featured on womenforhire.com and in an issue of Women For Hire magazine.
  • Raise $5,000 or more within three months and you’ll be featured on womenforhire.com and on the cover of an issue of Women For Hire magazine
