I want to tell you about a free initiative I’m launching August 22 to serve anyone who is looking for a job.
Whether you’ve become frustrated after searching unsuccessfully for months or are just starting your career, this totally free, month-long program can help.
It’s a virtual job club called How to Get Hired — and it’s open to everyone.
Here’s how it works.
1) The program requires a daily commitment from you. While there’s no guarantee of employment, if you follow our advice and actively engage each day, you will get results.
2) The first and easiest part requires you to register online now. It’s a two-step process:
First, go to Facebook.com/Tory and tell me that YOU’RE IN. Also let me know there the type of position you’re seeking.
Then, click here to complete this registration form. It’s lengthy and important. I don’t want to create a program that’s geared primarily to new grads if everyone who registers is over 50. We need your specific feedback via this registration form to craft that program that best serves those who are participating. So take a moment now to complete this.
3) Starting August 22, I’ll give you one specific task to perform each day — designed to reboot and reenergize your job search. (You get weekends off!)
My wheels are spinning with so many ideas and opportunities to present in this virtual club. As we gear up for six Women For Hire career expos this fall — with a return to Los Angeles — I can’t think of a better way to start the season than with this How to Get Hired program.
We’ll make great things happen together — and get your job search moving in a positive direction. If you know someone who might benefit from joining it too, feel free to share this post and invite them to come along.
Game on!

Hi Tory, I think this is a great idea. I coach a lot of people into jobs every day and have for the past 15 years. I support your endeavor and wish you the best of luck.
Rebecca
I am looking for feedback. For those who may have just lost a job, or have lost a job, or are looking for a new career, we are often reminded to make sure we follow the proper job interview steps. For example have enough resumes, know what questions to ask, look polished, reminded to sell ourselves, send thank you note, do the follow up, in other do what ever is needed to get a job.
As a professional, unemployed, I have had the pleasure to interview with huge companies. I am often told to my face that I am a polished interviewer, yet, after a 45 min to one hour interview, I never hear back, not even you are good but not good enough. Why is that!!. I understand this is world for employers, and we need them, but do I really need a company that is so busy where they cannot at least say Thanks but no Thanks.
A second thing, what ever happened to dress code. Again we are told dress properly, but I have sat in on interviews with HR again huge companies, and forgive, me those girls and back are just out there.
Sorry – it really gets to you, when we are reminded be everything, but employers can be what ever they chose to be.
Thanks,
Rita
I’m in! Great program, thank you!!
Hello,I don’t use Facebook and prefer not to. Is there any other way to connect?
Happy to join. I need to work and need all the information I can get to land a job quickly. Thanks for the job club Tory.

Anxiously awaiting for the days first mission…where is today’s first action? I have not received any information.

Same here! I did not enroll yesterday because of that obstacle.
The in the raw idea is great. I’d love to join, but with my QA background I ditto other posts, afraid of FaceBook with all the horror stories and how companies use, perhaps untold and unknown others (even manipulate?) data against job seekers. I’m on LinkedIn, a professional site for job hunters and working professionals to grow their businesses, excluding social chit chat, changing the default security settings for greater protection.
An individual without cash for legal recourse is risky in this age of identity theft and abuse. Data outside of job hunting cannot be controlled and there are no posted data or misinformation erasures. And, I’d guess there are more ignorant job seekers forced online which places this group into unknown pitfall territory.
The problem I see with the idea is FaceBook, one of a lack of Women For Hire’s control. I.e. is the possibility of a damaged reputation by being glued to FaceBook the price tag in order to become accountable in paying one’s bills where a job is not guaranteed? There must be a better approach offered for those who know what it is like to have been hurt badly and/or those who don’t want to be hurt initially. Thus, to better protect unemployed/underemployed women, could you over something like a {Tory Women Groups} in addition to (for those who want FaceBook) and (completely separate from) FaceBook for those who don’t want FaceBook personal liability pricetag to become employed? FaceBook is too big to play to chance. An automated tool with a box checked could link one to FaceBook or not, if left unchecked, and still provide the same service level while minimizing potential liabiilty to women job hunters. The easiest of implementations with the finest of intentions is not always the wisest course to pursue in life.
If FaceBook is the only option, is Women For Hire willing to accept full monetary liability of the potential damage FaceBook can do to its Women For Hire job hunting members? Wanting to be employed does not mean wanting to be exploited. If this is the price, Women For Hire should be willing to pay liability in full for the potential it wants of desperate people in hard times. To me, this is a silly “proposal” for both job seeker and Women For Hire. It may cost more, initially, but networking via your own website where you protect your interests, i.e. the liability factor, and those of your clients, the unemployed women, far more than does FaceBook is probably the best solution to implement your best of intentions, which really is a sound and decent offer for job seekers.
