Meet Wanda WallaceWanda Wallace is a Region Sales Manager at Orkin and Chairperson for the Midwest Women's Resource Group. Q: What is your role and responsibility at Orkin? A. I oversee sales training and sales productivity for 24 sales Inspectors and 72 Route Managers. I am involved in all recruiting and staffing decisions for the Region. I am involved in developing acquisitions inside the Kentucky Region. I assist the Region Manager in the overall profitability of each branch within the Region. I am Chairperson for the Midwest Women’s Resource Group, which is actively recruiting and developing females into non-traditional female roles. Q: What do you attribute to your success at Orkin? A. I attribute my success to hard work, diligence and integrity. Without any one of these three things, I do not believe anyone - male or female - would be successful at anything. Having said that, I have many great mentors who have helped to guide me in my career path with Orkin. My manager has made a huge impact in my career by giving me valuable advice and insight. Q: What do you love about your job? A. I know this sounds unbelievable, but I love everything about my job. I love going to work every day and have never been ashamed or embarrassed by my company. I truly love each day that I am capable of being a part of the Orkin family. I know it sounds cheesy but it’s true. Q: Why is Orkin a great place to work? A. For me, it’s like a big family. I know it’s a huge corporation and we have many facilities, but it truly is just one big family. Women are given every opportunity that a man receives. If you are willing to work hard and have integrity your opportunities are only limited by you. Q: When we hire great employees, we want to keep and grow them. What is important for any organization in terms of keeping and growing its people? A. It is very important to allow your employees to demonstrate their leadership abilities. Rather than tell them how to do something encourage them to develop their own solutions. Encourage them to set personal goals of growth within the company and assist them in reaching those goals. Organizations also need to recognize those who go above and beyond as future leaders and act quickly in steering their career with our company. I believe that Orkin is an organization that strives to do those things.
