About
Angela I. Schutz is Managing Director/Founder of Driven To Succeed Consulting, a career development/executive coaching service aimed at empowering people to find their ultimate career potential. She also serves as a Certified Associate, in the Stamford and Shelton offices of Lee Hecht Harrison and as a University Relations Career Consultant, coaching MBA and EMBA students.
Ms. Schutz served as the Executive Director of Training and Development for the National Society of Leadership and Success. Duties included teaching leadership and accountability to students and serving as the online success coach for undergraduates. She was the primary support person for chapter advisors and student chapter presidents. Her duties extended to areas of sales, marketing and publicity along with motivational speaking.
When working at the University of New Haven, Ms. Schutz served as the Director of Career Services and Experiential Learning. She directed the Career Development Office and built external corporate relations. She was a key player in launching an experiential learning program to support and enhance the university’s commitment to “real-life learning” by partnering with major corporations to offer scholarship and internship opportunities to students.
At UNH, Ms. Schutz held other key positions such as the Program Director for the Program to China. Through her travels to China and her ability to work closely with other cultures, Ms. Schutz has facilitated educational programs for students from China as they worked to receive their master degrees and bridge cultural gaps. She created a specialized program in architecture for architects from China. As the Assistant Dean for Academic Services, she created a streamlined advising process for first-year students which employed an “active” advising approach that encouraged advisors to use academic and campus resources to their fullest.
Ms. Schutz earned her B.A. in Psychology at Southern Connecticut State University. She completed her graduate work at the University of New Haven where she earned an M.A. in Community Psychology. She is a qualified Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Administrator and holds a Management Certificate in Higher Education from the Higher Education Resource Service (HERS) at Wellesley College.
Ms. Schutz is an active member of the UNH Alumni Association, where she held consecutive executive offices for seven years. She is also an active member of the Foundation Board for Gateway Community College in New Haven, Connecticut. She is on the Professional Development Committee for the Eastern Association of Colleges and Employers (EACE) and is an active member of the Association of Psychological Type. Her volunteer work includes teaching for Junior Achievement and volunteering for the American Cancer Society. She resides in Connecticut with her husband.
