Cancer Treatment Centers of America

Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) is the Presenting Sponsor of the ReWork Career Fair at the 2009 Pennsylvania Governor’s Conference for Women.

CTCA hopes to educate women, the primary decision-makers in the house, about the hospital’s unique approach to cancer care, which treats the whole person, mind, body and spirit, not just their cancer.

If your mother had cancer, how would you want her to be treated? That simple question has evolved into the Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) Mother Standard® of cancer care. The Mother Standard allows physicians to offer patients the state-of-the-art medical treatments to attack the cancer, combined with an array of complementary therapies to help strengthen the immune system, ease side effects, and improve quality of life.

CTCA focuses relentlessly on the individual, whole-person needs of cancer patients, which includes helping their loved ones as well. Every clinician, hospital design element, and piece of equipment exists to meet the needs of cancer patients and their families. While dedicated to offering patients both length and quality of life, CTCA also takes steps to maintain the quality of cancer treatment. That’s why the hospital commits to providing value such as shortened evaluation times, fast turnaround times for lab and scan results, and weekend infusion hours. Whether the goal is to dance at a son or daughter’s wedding or to continue working throughout treatment, CTCA listens to patients, empowers them to be part of the recovery process, and develops a treatment plan that suits their individual needs.

CTCA is hiring…

Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) offers patients the most sophisticated forms of surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy in combination with complementary therapies, including nutrition therapy, naturopathic medicine, mind-body medicine, and spiritual support. Since CTCA opened its doors in Philadelphia in 2005, the hospital has embarked on significant expansion projects and added more than 500 employees in various departments. The integrated cancer hospital is looking for well-qualified healthcare professionals to make a real difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families. CTCA offers a commitment to the values that are important to you—hopefulness, compassion, and empowerment.

A new book…

Both Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) and a new book, “What Happy Working Mothers Know” by coauthors Cathy Greenberg and Barrett Avigdor, share a core value in their mission— “The Mother Standard”. The Mother Standard® of care is focused on patient centered treatment for both the patient and their family, and is offered at each of the CTCA centers of excellence across the country. In our book, “What Happy Working Mothers Know” a gold standard of care is also applied to life at home and work with practical tools and tips to help any woman who is, or who is thinking about becoming a mother. “What Happy Working Mothers Know” is also geared to maximize the success of anyone who manages, works with, or who simply loves working mothers. Our book focuses on the important connections between performance, success and the science of happiness while sharing true stories about working mothers, including one tremendous story of healing and hope from a mom and breast cancer survivor who treated at CTCA.
