Prince William County is located in Northern Virginia approximately 25 miles south of Washington, DC. The Prince William County Police Department has approximately 600 sworn officers that serve a citizen population over 380,000 citizens. This department offers a competitive salary, retention supplements, permanent non-rotating work schedule, take home vehicle program, numerous specialty units, paid retirement and outstanding benefits.
Police Officers operate a patrol car on assigned shifts to observe for violations of traffic and criminal laws, suspicious activities or persons and disturbances of law and order; responds to radio dispatches and answers calls and complaints; serves warrants and makes arrests; testifies in court; provides police escorts; directs traffic; performs special assignment of booking or desk officer; reports unsafe conditions existing in street or other public facilities; assists with criminal investigations by presenting evidence, interviewing witnesses and victims; prepares property and evidence as evidence in court cases; prepares detailed reports; assigned to fixed 10-hour shifts.
