A jury in New York ordered Novartis to pay $250 million in punitive damages to female employees who said the drugmaker discriminated against them on pay, promotion and pregnancy benefits. This, on top of the $3.3 million in compensatory damages Novartis was ordered to pay earlier this week. The firm says it will appeal.
