Latest Trump Firestorm: Sexual Harassment at Work

Screen Shot 2015-08-13 at 12.00.16 PM

Donald Trump’s comments on sexual harassment at work have raised questions about steps women can task if it happens to them. Most companies have formal policies prohibiting sexual harassment, but there are a few common sense steps any woman can take if she feels someone is acting inappropriately toward them at work.

1) Call It Out: These days, perhaps thanks to the freedom the feel commenting online, people feel free to say anything they please with no regard to what is appropriate or legal. Sometimes they have no clue that what they’re saying crosses boundaries. Be firm and direct and tell the person in question that such comments or advances are unacceptable.

2) Document It: Keep a written record with specific details of the date, time, nature of the comments or actions and any witnesses. Specifics count because when you allege harassment, your credibility will be questioned and facts can bolster your case

3) Report It: Depending on the size and structure of your organization, you might go to a trusted colleague for advice or to your supervisor.  You can also go to your human resources department and file a formal complaint. But before you take that step, know that the purpose of HR departments is to protect the company, not serve as your personal ally. While that includes enforcing zero tolerance policies on sexual harassment, too often women confide in HR only to pegged as a problem because the company would rather protect the big boss, not the dispensable worker bee.  That doesn’t mean you should not report claims of harassment; just be aware of how and to whom you turn for notification and support. If your employer is unresponsive, consider filing a complaint with the Equal Opportunity Commission. You don’t need a lawyer to do this. You can also consult a lawyer to better understand your rights and recourses, if you have the resources.

Donald Trump is a misogynist. He is a sociopath. He is a danger to our democracy. Why ANYONE – much less a WOMAN – would vote for this demagogue is beyond me.

Donald Trump YOUR FIRED AND TAKE CONGRESS WITH YOU !!!!
WE WANT A FRESH START NOT ANOTHER WAR!!

  4. Sexual harassment does not fall on any one type of person. You don’t fire someone if they are harassed. You are not weak if you are harassed. Mr.Trump is so very out of touch with reality, not only on this issue, but it seems like every issue. he is a male chauvinist, and does not deserve a seat in what should be the most respected office in this already great USA! It saddens me that women are supporting his bad behavior, and encouraging it.

He’s deliberately screwing up so that he can claim the election was rigged when he loses.

Fact of life. We women deal with everything. We need a complete outsider with no skin in the game to get America back on top. Trump will surround himself with others whose expertise is outside his own. Like strong successful women similar to the daughters he has raised incredibly well. Apples don’t fall far from the tree… Hillary, Hell No. Let’s keep up the fight and Make America Great Again. Texas for Trump!

DONALD TRUMP IS TRULY LIVING IN A FANTASY WORLD ABOUT WOMEN AND SEXUAL HARASSMENT AND DEFINITELY DOESN’T DESERVE TO BE NOT ONLY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, BUT ANY POLITICAL POSITION EVER!!!

I like Mr. Donald Trump and his family. I support when he says he’ll make things better for Americans here at home in the United States. And yes, we as women need to be strong and standup to unwanted sexual advances…not wait to see if it will just go away. I am sick and tire of people and the media putting down Mr. Trump because he wants to make changes for the better. And there are so many GOOD things he wants to accomplish and I for one want to see him in the White House as President of the United States of America.

I am personally terrified of the prospect of having Donald Trump in office. He is in no way fit to be President of the United States. His NUMEROUS negative traits and TOTAL lack of knowledge and ability to understand the issues would put the US and the world at serious risk.

Citizens are so frustrated, disappointed, and upset with the state of our world at home and abroad, and with GOP Candidate Donald Trump’s unpredictable behavior and candid outbursts, that any review of him is never in context and even less in objectivity. Mr. Trump is “old school,” wherein a man expressing his approval of what he sees is EXPECTED, not excused. So his response would, naturally, focus first on the woman’s reaction and from the perspective of the women he interacts with most frequently, family. If he had been asked specifically about the responsibility and liability of men in cases of sexual harrasment, both Trump men would have responded differently. When you throw a broad question, it will boomerang broad responses.

Likewise, I believe we are all
beginning to exhibit/mimic some measure of infantile behavior because Mr. Trump is so good at articulating his own
without reprimand– media hammers it down daily for us to see. So, let’s not forget critique and criticize– the former wards off buying into b.s., and the latter. . .well, makes us no better than the very presidential candidates we cannot seem to engage simple, civil
discourse with on the real life, daily issues only a leader can discuss with. us. Outrage does not apply here.

The Trump family are all out of touch with reality. Completely!

Strong women get harassed. Strong women get abused. Strong women find themselves intertwined in domestic violence. Strong women get raped. It happens…

I agree the US could use a fresh start however why people think Trump breeds this fresh start is beyond me.
